Prodtex are at the SAE 2016 Aerospace Manufacturing and Automated Fastening Conference & Exhibition for the second day demonstrating their reconfigurable fixturing technology and virtual simulation of assembly lines. The Prodtex stand is located at booth 70 in the exhibition hall and Peter Helgosson & Ricky Cartwright are on hand to discuss Prodtex’s assembly solutions with the attendees. Prodtex have received a lot of interest and positive feedback on the solutions that they provide from the aerospace community and in particular the large integration company’s in attendance.

Peter presented his paper on “Automated flexible tooling for wingbox assembly” to the attendees yesterday. This paper was written as a result of the research performed by Peter, and Prodtex as part of the Locomachs project. The work involved the use of Hexapod robots to automatically install ribs into a wingbox structure, as well as removing and re-installing the front spar.
